About Us
Ford Civil is a leading bulk earthworks and civil earthworks contractor, undertaking medium to large volume earthmoving projects within the infrastructure, land development and quarrying sectors.
Ford Civil was established in 2015 by brothers Stu and Jonny Ford, to realise a long held ambition of Stu’s to buy an excavator and start his own business. As the fourth generation of the Ford family to operate an earthmoving business, this DNA runs deep in this family. Dating back to when their great grandfather Walter Ford, purchased a truck in the 1920s and worked his way up the coast from from Geraldine to Kaikoura, helping construct state roads and bridges, eventually settling in Kaikoura.
To Walter’s sons, William and Bruce purchasing their own trucks and working together in Kaikoura since 1947, then formally starting Ford Bros Ltd in Kaikoura 1963, which became a contracting and aggregates business, working on infrastructure and farms in the region, and establishing their Hapuka river quarry. William and Bruce’s sons then carried on running this business until 2018 when it was sold to Road Metals.
